As promised, here are just a few of the healthier baking tips, I promised, for making your cake not as rich or calorific, but just as tasty!
To keep the flavour, substitute half the fat (butter, oil) mentioned in a recipe, with either one of the below:
• Mashed Banana / Avocado, Low Fat Yoghurt, Buttermilk, Applesauce
Cutting Down on Sugar
• Replace the sugar, with either honey or maple syrup. Try to steer towards natural sugars as opposed to artificial sweeteners.
• If the recipe calls for 100g of caster sugar, replace this with 200g of honey
Replacing the egg in a recipe
If you would like to replace the egg in the recipe, the below represents 1 egg.
• ½ TBSP vegetable oil + ½ TBSP water + 1 tsp baking powder = 1 egg
